In December of 2001, FEEF was awarded a Kresge Challenge Grant. When the endowment fund reached $750,000, the Kresge Foundation awarded FEEF an additional $250,000 in July 2004 to bring the total endowment to $1,000,000. The Kresge Challenge Grant was administered through the Community Foundation of South Alabama.
