The 17th Annual Mayor’s Golf Tournament held on April 9 at Quail Creek Golf Course raised more than $35,000 for the Fairhope Educational Enrichment Foundation.
“Over 110 players came out to enjoy a terrific day of golf and compete for closest to the pin, longest drive and other raffle prizes,” said Jack Burrell, co-chair of the tournament. “We appreciate the hard work of the Quail Creek Golf Course staff and James Gillespie with the City of Fairhope in helping this event run smoothly.”
The first place team comprised Neal Lambert, Chris Robertson, Jeff Thumser and Mark Lisak. The second place team included Chris Browning, Dan McCrory, Jeremy Morgan and Steve Seay.
The players enjoyed a lunch catered by Honey Baked Ham prior to teeing off, and a seafood buffet dinner donated by Wintzell’s Oyster House awaited them at the end of the tournament. Budweiser, Coca-Cola, and Fairhope Bottled Water Company donated beverages for players through the day.
A majority of the money raised was generated through sponsors of the tournament including title sponsor Terry Thompson Chevrolet and others including Thomas Hospital; Merrill Lynch; First National Bank; First Gulf Bank; Eastern Shore Plastic Surgery; Baldwin Bone & Joint; Greeno Masonic Lodge No. 598; Bonner, Landreau and Kingrea LLC; Mary Jane and Gene Bouchillon; Dade Paper; Frank and Mary Bunch; Hutchison Homes and Miles Jones D.M.D. and Scott Coleman, D.M.D.
“We appreciate Mayor Kant’s ongoing support of this tournament as well as the many sponsors and players who contributed to its success,” said Dee Fuhrman, executive director, FEEF. “The money raised will be used to enrich educational opportunities for all Fairhope public school students.”
